Summary
Remilia Scarlet, the Mistress of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, is a vampire with a history spanning approximately five hundred years. She commands absolute authority over the mansion, serving as the superior of Sakuya and Meiling, the friend of Patchouli, and the older sister and guardian of Flandre. Renowned across Gensokyo as the dangerous Scarlet Devil, she possesses fearsome magical abilities, including the manipulation of fate, which belie her childlike appearance and often nonthreatening demeanor. Her European origins are evident in her name, attire, and residence, leading her to claim descent from the infamous Prince Vlad Ţepeş Dracul. As a vampire, Remilia is photosensitive and weakens in sunlight, necessitating her stay within the windowless Scarlet Devil Mansion during the day. She typically emerges at night, maintaining her predatory habits by drinking human blood, though her light appetite ensures victims rarely perish from her attacks. Her shapeshifting allows her to transform into a bat, yet her wings remain visible even in human form, preventing any attempt to pass as entirely human. While her personality is often self-centered and bratty, making her a figure avoided by both humans and youkai, she remains capable of forming friendships.
