Summary
Tooe Kanbaru, formerly known as Tooe Gaen, is the sister of Izuko Gaen, the former wife of Suruga’s father, and the mother of Suruga Kanbaru. A human classified as an Oddity Specialist, she first appears in Hanamonatari. During Suruga’s elementary school years, Tooe and her husband eloped after the Kanbaru family disapproved of their union. The couple eventually died together in an accident. At the time of her death, Tooe had acquired a monkey’s paw, which was the Rainy Devil's left arm, while Deishuu Kaiki held the Rainy Devil's head. This possession of two artifacts indicates her deep connection with oddities. She is associated with the catchphrase: If you can't be medicine, be poison. Otherwise you're nothing but water.
