Rammsteiner, Haine

Rammsteiner, Haine

Summary

Haine Rammsteiner is an albino gunman who endured genetic manipulation and surgical implants during his childhood. A device known as a spine is fused to the back of his neck, granting him the ability to recover rapidly from any injury thanks to the Kerberos experiments led by Angelika Einstürzen. She acts as his "mother" and views him as her favorite among all test subjects. Raised in an underground research facility designed to forge the ultimate human weapon, Haine typically maintains an emotional distance and harbors no reservations about slaughtering large numbers of people. He also possesses a secondary personality that revels in violence and destruction. His trajectory shifted when he entered a berserker rage, resulting in the deaths of everyone associated with the Kerberos project, including his younger "sister," Lily. This trauma instilled in him gynophobia, a severe fear of women, causing mental breakdowns when he is near them. However, he forms a bond with Nill after learning she is also a genetic experiment, which allows him to touch her without distress. Haine wields two firearms: a black Luger P08 and a white Mauser C96 pistol. The latter is tethered to his belt via a long chain connected to the grip’s base, a feature he frequently utilizes for close-quarters combat to choke or restrain foes, though this chain is absent from the weapon’s depiction in the Dogs series. The character’s name was chosen by author Shirow Miwa, who named him after his favorite band, Rammstein.
