Guame

Summary

Guame the Steady serves as one of the Spiral King's Four Divine Generals, specializing in ground combat. Resembling a hybrid of a crocodile and an armadillo, he appears to be the eldest among the four. In episode nine, he and two other generals report the death of Divine General Thymilph to the Spiral King. Guame projects an aura of perversion, evidenced by his snide remarks regarding the relationship between Thymilph and General Adiane. Unlike the other Beastmen who worship the Spiral King as a god, Guame merely respects him. Cytomander notes in episode nine that Guame is the only one capable of opposing the king. Guame explains that he has known the King for a long time, suggesting a lifespan comparable to the Spiral King's; this is reinforced when he later dismisses General Cytomander as a "two-hundred-years-younger upstart," implying Guame is two centuries older. He is also the one who reveals why Nia was abandoned and confirms she was not the first princess to suffer that fate. Guame later returns alongside his flagship, the Dai-Gundo. Utilizing Teppelin's power supply, he and the ship generate a massive tornado intended to annihilate the Great Gurren Brigade and its allies. However, his plans are thwarted when the Gurren-Lagann tunnels beneath the fortress, impaling both Guame and the Dai-Gundo onto its drill and driving them into the base of Teppelin. Guame's name derives from the DNA chemical guanine and the elemental Gnome, while his Gunmen, Genber, is based on the mythical Black Tortoise, Genbu.
