Summary
Veronica Gilen, known as Nightingale, operates by her own strict moral compass. Following a harrowing ordeal under her uncle's command, she resolved to never shed tears or succumb to fear, forging herself into a woman of immense courage and iron will. Despite this stoic exterior, she possesses a mischievous streak, often pinching Roland when he annoys her or secretly stealing bites of his food. Her devotion to Roland is absolute and fiercely overprotective; she would willingly sacrifice her life to keep him safe. Nightingale is frequently found beside him, nibbling on dried fish while attempting to remain unseen during his meetings with others. She even placed a god's stone of retaliation beneath his pillow as a safeguard. Roland's well-being is her utmost priority, leading her to blame herself whenever she fails to shield him from harm. She harbors jealousy toward Anna due to her close bond with Roland, often wishing she had been the first to meet him. Nightingale has zero tolerance for anyone who insults, verbally abuses, or threatens Roland. Although she usually maintains composure to fulfill her duties, she is prone to occasional emotional outbursts and will sometimes take matters into her own hands without Roland's consent.
