Summary

Marco Bott, a 16-year-old standing 178 cm tall, graduated as the seventh-ranked member of the 104th Trainees Squad before being assigned to the Scouting Legion following the breach of Wall Rose. He is characterized by his idealism and natural leadership, consistently prioritizing the collective good over his own interests while remaining acutely aware of his own limitations. Unlike many who seek the Military Police for safety and privilege, Marco’s desire to join was rooted in genuine faith. His peers respected him greatly for his ability to preserve order, resolve conflicts, and keep others calm during combat. He possessed a sharp eye for talent, notably recognizing Jean Kirschtein’s potential as a leader and encouraging him to embrace his natural abilities, a bond that formed early when the two were often seen together during their training. Initially intimidated by instructors while expressing his military police aspirations, Marco demonstrated his protective instincts by shielding recruits from distressing questions regarding the attack on Wall Maria. After the Colossal Titan’s assault on Trost, he commanded the 19th Trainee Squad and supported the vanguard forces. When the retreat order left many trainees stranded without gas to scale the Wall, Marco quickly rallied with Mikasa and Jean to charge the headquarters surrounded by Titans. Inside the station, he played a vital role in Armin’s plan to reclaim the supply room, using rifles to lure seven Titans into position while maintaining discipline and composure among the recruits until they could blind the attackers. Following the regrouping of forces, Marco worked tirelessly to maintain morale and comfort those succumbing to fear, even when ordered to return to Trost. He later acted as bait on the Wall to distract Titans from Eren Yeager’s operation and participated in the subsequent battle within the city. During this engagement, he assisted in rescuing Jean after his gear malfunctioned, continuing to fight alongside his comrades while Eren sealed the breach in Wall Rose.
