Nakahara, Mine

Summary

Known as the infamous Marie Antoinette of the East, Miss Nakahara is Sunako’s extremely wealthy aunt, often addressed as Oba-san. She expects Kyohei, Takenaga, Yuki, and Ranmaru to transform Sunako into a proper lady. Due to her unconventional lifestyle, which includes traveling via a fleet of helicopters and frequent stays in France with new boyfriends or fiancés, she is rarely present. The four young men have successfully convinced her that Sunako is rapidly improving, despite her niece’s lack of actual refinement. When the Landlady makes unexpected visits, the boys stage elaborate acts to portray Sunako as ladylike, sometimes resulting in rent hikes if their performance fails. In reality, she is the younger sister of Sunako’s father. Like her niece, she easily frightens the male tenants. While her husband has passed away, she continues dating to combat loneliness, though she does not love these new partners as deeply as she loved her late spouse. Sunako deeply admires her aunt, regarding her as the most beautiful woman she knows, and recalls wanting to emulate her during childhood. The Landlady wants Sunako to be happy and initially believed that teaching her to be a lady would achieve this. Over time, however, she realizes Sunako is already capable of such behavior and shifts her focus to molding Kyohei into a suitable partner for her niece.
