Nagase, Nagisa
Summary
Nagisa Nagase initially makes her debut working as a waitress at the Marine House seafood restaurant, where her t-back bikini catches Ryuji Danma’s eye. While she projects an image of sweetness and innocence, she is actually afflicted with Dissociative Identity Disorder, harboring a malevolent alter ego named Yasha. As a member of the Midnight Angels gang led by Junya Akutsu, she is also his girlfriend, having developed her condition following a past sexual assault by him. Ryuji intervenes to save her life, helping her overcome her trauma and eventually becoming her partner. The couple remains together through the events of GTO. In the manga, Nagisa is briefly depicted as Ryuji’s attractive graduate school girlfriend, a relationship that began during their time in the Shonan Junai Gumi prequel. During a sequence where Eikiz Onizuka refuses to teach out of anger, he is seen sitting behind his desk while the class reluctantly watches a lesson delivered by Nagisa via videotape. The anime introduces her earlier, during a bar scene where Onizuka and Danma converse after an interview. When Onizuka attempts to grope her bosom, Danma grabs him by the collar and punches him for his lecherous behavior toward Nagisa. She does not appear in the live-action adaptation. In the Shonan Junai Gumi OVA, specifically episode 4, Nagisa is shown with long, straight dark hair and attends the prestigious Fujisawa Girls School. Whenever her Yasha persona emerges, a hanya tattoo becomes visible on her back near her left shoulder, and she is seen riding a black Kawazaki Eliminator motorcycle.
