Yukimaru

Summary

Yukimaru is a quiet young boy, whose shinobi status remains ambiguous, who features in the second filler arc of Naruto Shippuden. As a test subject of Orochimaru, he possesses the unique ability to control the Three-Tailed Giant Turtle. Haunted by his past, Yukimaru is reserved and frequently asks if things will be fun. His primary desire is to find a home, a concept clarified by Naruto as a place where people think of you, which brings him some comfort despite Yukimaru’s persistent belief that he has no place to return to. Kabuto later takes Yukimaru on a journey to a dark swamp, where he forces the release of Yukimaru's full chakra. This experiment causes the Three-Tailed demon to partially emerge before submerging again. Yukimaru is subsequently sent with Guren on a mission, during which he falls ill and she cares for him. This care fosters a deep attachment between them, highlighted when Yukimaru reacts to her departure similarly to how he viewed his mother’s presumed death. He gives her a necklace with a special charm before parting. Yukimaru encounters Naruto again, who invites the orphan to join him in Konoha. Yukimaru politely declines, feeling his true place is with Guren. Kabuto soon returns to conduct another experiment, forcing Yukimaru to take medical pills. This finally triggers the full emergence of the Three-Tailed Beast. While Yukimaru initially required the pills to release the Three-Tails' chakra, he eventually manages to do so without them. He also possesses an illusion technique; when he meets Naruto, white camellias appear everywhere, and he and the flowers vanish simultaneously.
