Summary
Yota was a frail young child from a nomadic clan possessing the mysterious ability to manipulate the weather. Born into this traveling group, his family utilized their meteorological skills to survive. Five years prior to the series' beginning, Yota succumbed to natural causes due to his weak constitution, but was subsequently revived by Orochimaru as a test subject for his Impure World Reincarnation research. Acting on Orochimaru’s orders, Yota was sent to Konohagakure. There, he encountered Chōji Akimichi, Shikamaru Nara, and Ino Yamanaka while they were searching for Chōji’s lost kunai set. After being accidentally pinned to a tree by the thrown weapons, Yota began to cry, triggering a downpour that collapsed the tree and freed him. The children, mindful of the political tensions between Konohagakure and other nations, agreed to keep his existence secret from the adults. They provided him with shelter in a makeshift treehouse and regularly brought him food. As Yota grew more comfortable, he interacted with Kiba Inuzuka, his dog Akamaru, and Sakura Haruno, whom he developed a fondness for. This newfound confidence led him to appear openly in the village and even play a minor prank on Sasuke Uchiha. During this period, Yota befriended Naruto Uzumaki after hearing him whistle and asked Naruto to teach him the skill. Their friendship faced a crisis when Yota decided to hide with Naruto during a game of hide and seek. Misinterpreting Naruto’s instruction to find another hiding spot as a rejection, Yota fled, inadvertently exposing his presence to the Konoha ANBU, who captured him for interrogation. This incident prompted Naruto and the others to devise a plan to rescue him. Following the rescue, the group attempted to cross a steep river, but the strong current swept Naruto, Shikamaru, and Chōji away. Yota intervened to save them but failed to resurface afterward. The group eventually found Yota on the brink of death. Before passing, he bid them farewell and erased their memories of him to ensure they would not face further danger because of his connection. Yota left Konohagakure, living out the rest of his life in isolation under the control of Kabuto Yakushi, Orochimaru’s spy and right-hand man.
