Summary
Gamatatsu, whose name literally translates to "Toad Dragon," is the younger brother of Gamakichi and one of Gamabunta's offspring. He is defined by an intense fixation on snacks, a trait so pronounced that he has been known to prioritize them over human life. During Naruto's battle with Kabuto Yakushi, Gamatatsu impatiently asked Gamakichi if they should wait for the injured ninja to die before getting food, citing his hunger. However, this self-centeredness is not absolute; in filler arcs, he demonstrated genuine concern for Naruto, attempting to rescue him before Gamakichi intervened. He appears to be the most subservient and loyal among the primary frog summons, willingly serving Naruto before the snack distraction took hold. Despite his naive and childishly foolish demeanor, Gamatatsu occasionally uses his natural curiosity to assist Naruto in solving mysteries, such as the Ghost Warrior case. His obsession is so deep that he waited a full year after his initial summoning for a promised treat that never arrived. He is perpetually hungry, constantly begging his summoner for food, and frequently finds himself in unusual predicaments that require his "big brother Gamakichi" to resolve. In the English dub, his voice is notably high-pitched and jocular, making him a staple for comic relief. He openly refers to Gamabunta as "daddy," a term the elder toad generally ignores or accepts without issue.
