Chino

Summary

Chino is one of the few remaining members of the Chinoike Clan. In her early childhood, she was abducted by En Oyashiro, who specialized in collecting shinobi with kekkei genkai. The trauma of this separation was so severe that Chino forgot her parents' faces. En molded her into a ruthless and vengeful shinobi, assigning her duties to capture other kekkei genkai users and eliminate any threats to their operations. After discovering that her entire clan had been massacred by their enemies and growing resentful of En’s cruel treatment, Chino fled his control to forge her own path. During her travels, she encountered Nowaki, and the two joined forces. They survived by robbing the wealthy of their possessions. Despite this new freedom, Chino remained consumed by hatred toward the villages, holding them responsible for allowing her clan to perish. In the anime adaptation, Chino’s introduction differs significantly. She first meets Nowaki, who is actually Fūshin, after defeating him in a Coliseum match. The two connect over their shared isolation, having been ostracized due to their unique abilities and lack of family. Motivated by a desire to locate her clan at the Valley of Hell, Chino orchestrates the escape of herself, Fūshin, Karyū, and two others. They form the Lightning Group, redirecting stolen funds to aid impoverished villages. However, the group is disbanded when Kirigakure intervenes, leaving only Chino and Fūshin behind. Upon reaching the Valley of Hell and finding it empty, with clear signs that her clan is dead, Chino swears vengeance for their destruction.
