Summary
Heen is an unusual canine companion to Sophie, initially serving as Madame Sulliman’s errand dog. He makes his first appearance when Howl instructs Sophie, posing as Mrs. Pendragon, to visit the Royal Castle and report that Howl is cowardly and useless, while Howl himself follows behind in disguise. As Sophie travels toward the castle, she speculates on Howl’s disguise and soon notices an elderly, wheezing dog trailing her, mistaking him for her friend. Heen is notably large for his age and breathes heavily. He eventually leaves the castle alongside Howl, Sophie, and the Witch of the Waste, effectively becoming part of their household as a pet.
