Summary

Sir Bedivere stands as one of the few knights of the Round Table who maintained unwavering loyalty to his monarch until the very end. He ascended to the position of Imperial Guard, tasked with protecting Arturia, driven by pure admiration and a simple desire to remain close to her and witness her genuine expressions. Despite being the knight who spent the most time by her side, he never once observed her smile, nor did he ever uncover her identity as a woman. He was present at Arturia’s death, where he struggled to return Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake twice, fearing that doing so would mark the conclusion of his king’s life. Although disobeying a direct order constituted the gravest sin for a knight, he could not bring himself to hand over the sword, harboring anger that a ruler who had worked so tirelessly received no proper reward. Ultimately, realizing he could not alter her fate, he surrendered the blade on the third attempt. Following her passing, Bedivere found comfort in knowing that Arturia had finally achieved the peaceful slumber that had eluded her throughout her life.
