Summary
Spitfire, known as the Flame King, was among the final two members of the original Sleeping Forest to retain their titles when the narrative began. He first appears when Ikki stumbles upon a clandestine meeting with AT riders. Initially dismissing Ikki as an 'F' class rider with only a 1% chance of defeating Buccha, Spitfire was taken aback by the actual outcome. In the anime adaptation, his introduction occurs in the opening episode following the Skullsaders' leader challenging Ikki. Beyond his title, he commands three teams comprising 41, 68, and 86 members respectively, and works as a popular hair stylist in his civilian life. His high velocity generates heat through wheel friction, creating the visual illusion of flames. Later, Spitfire engages in an AT battle with Sora. When Sano intervenes to rescue Spitfire, the pair challenges Nike. It is disclosed that Spitfire possesses the ability to stop time, akin to Sano, asserting that while Nike is Genesis's strongest, he cannot overcome the flames of time. As the conflict prolongs, Spitfire concludes victory is impossible. He asks Sano to provide enough time for him to retrieve Kazu and escape, forcibly transferring the Flame Regalia to Kazu. Upon returning to the fray, both Sano and Spitfire are slain by Sora and Nike. Prior to his death, Spitfire had foreseen this fate and recorded a video revealing Genesis's true motives. He explained that observing the battle between Kogarasumaru and Behemoth reminded him of his desire to fly freely in the sky. Additionally, he predicted Ikki would "lose his wings" due to Sora's betrayal, aiming to use the message to draw Ikki back into the AT world. The recording ended with Spitfire expressing mild doubt that his plan would succeed. The visual motif for Spitfire and the Flame Road is a nine-tailed flaming fox, referencing the Kitsune from Japanese mythology. In the English dub, his voice is characterized by a Cockney accent.
