Summary
Mei Sakura is an underclassman of Takane, addressing her as "onee-sama." Recognized as a skilled Ministra Magi, her Pactio artifact is a broomstick. Originally a transfer student from a North American mage academy, she arrived before the Mahora Festival Arc. Along with Takane and Gandolfini, she attempted to arrest Chao prior to the festival but ultimately released her at Negi's request. Mei possesses an elemental affinity for fire and utilizes her broom for both transportation and combat. She and Takane participated in the Mahora festival fighting tournament to discipline Negi, but Mei was quickly defeated by Kotarō and subsequently rescued from drowning, as she cannot swim. When magic became public, the press relentlessly pursued her. She later joined Takane in their mission to arrest Negi's group, only to be easily defeated and stripped bare. Nodoka used her Pactio artifact on Mei to locate where Negi was being held, while Asuna comforted her with a promise to restore the world to normal. Upon returning to the third day of the festival, Mei appeared alongside Takane to battle Chao's robot army. Although she has intensified her training with encouragement from Kotarō, he remains too occupied with his own regimen to assist her directly. Natsumi Murakami has shown signs of jealousy when Kotaro interacts with Mei, though the romantic feelings between Kotaro and Mei remain unknown.
