Summary
Ippon-Matsu operated the weapons shop in Loguetown, the location Zoro visited to acquire new blades. He was the former owner of two significant swords, Sandai Kitetsu and Yubashiri, which he eventually passed on to Zoro. Upon their initial meeting, Ippon-Matsu attempted to exploit Zoro by offering an undervalued price for the Wado Ichimonji. However, his demeanor shifted dramatically after Tashigi arrived and Zoro demonstrated his courage by testing his luck with the Sandai Kitetsu. Impressed by Zoro’s readiness to face the cursed blade’s deadly gamble, Ippon-Matsu gifted him Yubashiri at no cost. Although Yubashiri was a cherished family heirloom passed down through generations of swordsmen, Ippon-Matsu explained to his wife that he was simply transferring his own dream to Zoro. He later made a guest appearance in The Detective Memoirs of Chief Straw Hat Luffy TV special.
