Baskerville, Noise
Summary
Noise is a member of the Baskerville Clan who bears an Illegal Contract with the Chain Duldee. The name Noise was bestowed upon her by a young Vincent Nightray during their second encounter, as her memories of her true identity were erased by the Contract. Initially, Noise lacked control over Duldee, which caused her sanity to deteriorate. To prevent Noise from losing her heart and soul, Duldee created a split personality named Duldum, who serves as an extension of Duldee’s power. Noise named this alter ego Echo, and because both personalities coexist within her body, her fellow Baskervilles refer to her by the alias "Zwei," meaning "Two." Currently, Noise operates independently with murderous intent toward Oz, while also eliminating any threats to her relationship with Vincent Nightray. Originally, Noise was vulnerable, impressionable, and considered weak by most of the Baskervilles due to the burden of Duldee’s presence. Her fragile mental state cracked under the strain, allowing Duldee to possess her body and go on violent rampages. Since Chains are not meant to possess their Contractors, this caused severe damage, turning Noise into a ticking time bomb. When Duldee placed Duldum within Noise to prevent her destruction, Noise was saved; Duldee could still control her through Duldum without risking her complete annihilation. Upon returning to her original self, Noise often cried and pitied herself, believing everyone hated her because she had to be isolated for others' safety. She was also distressed by her fractured soul, which prevented her from remembering her past. Her life changed after meeting Vincent, who offered kindness and understanding, giving her a new name and identity. Noise came to view Vincent as her only true friend, developing a loyal and borderline obsessive attachment to him. Noise fell into the Abyss along with most of Sablier during the Tragedy and remained there for nearly a century before escaping. During this time, she underwent a complete transformation. No longer quiet and reserved, she became loud, outspoken, and bloodthirsty, likely influenced by Duldee. In battle, Noise treats confrontations like puppet shows, controlling people through Duldee and Duldum, which makes her reminiscent of a child. She frequently acts recklessly, wanting to go off on her own and make impulsive decisions. She whines when she does not get her way and occasionally disobeys orders to rush into battle to satisfy her own wants, disregarding the repercussions of her actions.
