Summary
Archangel Gabriel is a divine entity and archangel who plays a significant role in the main storyline of Toaru Majutsu no Index. As an archangel, she is considered one of the most powerful non-human characters in the narrative. She is referred to as the Power of God, and according to Kaori, she rules over the attribute of water, serves as the guardian of the moon, governs the color blue, and protects the rear side. Acqua of the Back, a member of God's Right Seat, is aligned with Gabriel, which enables him to perform feats similar to hers regarding water manipulation. Gabriel possesses an androgynous appearance, classified as both male and female. Despite this classification, she exhibits feminine features, including breasts, though no obvious genitalia are shown. Her skin is pure white, adorned with intricate golden lines that cover most of her body, particularly the upper torso, forearms, upper legs, and lower ankles. These lines converge in the center of her breasts into a kite-like shape bearing the symbol of the cross, a detail also visible on Index's Walking Church. Similar golden patterns appear on peculiar flaps attached to her wings. These flaps are also found on her head, resembling hair, as well as on her forearms, legs, and waist, where they mimic coattails. A blue halo rests atop her head, containing an inner circle from which three arrow-shaped lines extend slightly beyond the outer ring in different directions. Her eyes are white and lack visible irises or pupils. Although wings are not typically depicted in her standard form, Gabriel utilizes her powers to create wings made of crystallized water.
