Summary
Eriko Aizawa serves as the wife of Shuichi Aizawa and the mother of Yumi Aizawa. Her first appearance occurs in episode eighteen, where Shuichi returns home with a bruise on his head, explaining that he had a minor altercation with her. The conflict stemmed from Yumi being very young and Shuichi rarely sleeping at home due to his work. At the end of the episode, Eriko and Yumi spot Shuichi sitting on a park bench. Eriko asks if he plans to come home for dinner, noting that she only purchased food for herself and her daughter. When Shuichi begins to cry, Yumi questions her mother about the reason for his tears. According to Death Note: How to Read 13, Eriko and her daughter are often sad because Shuichi is overworked.
