Summary
Making his debut in Episode 342, the Jack-in-the-Box (Bikkuri Bako), a name that literally translates to "Surprise Box," is a grotesque, stitched-up clown creature dwelling within a box found in Hogback's room. While the manga depicts the figure with several nails driven into its head, the anime adaptation omits these details. Nami, Usopp, and Chopper uncovered the entity after opening the box in search of treasure. The creature wears a collar marked with the number 256. Although the box contained nothing else, the Jack-in-the-Box revealed that a certain treasure is hidden elsewhere on the island, a statement that immediately captured Nami's interest.
