Summary

Itachi Uchiha is a high-profile S-class Missing-Nin from Konohagakure and a key member of the Akatsuki, where he wears the Shu ring on his right ring finger and partners with Hoshigaki Kisame. He is the older brother of Sasuke Uchiha. Since his debut in the series, Itachi has maintained significant popularity among fans, frequently ranking in the top ten of Shonen Jump magazine’s character popularity polls, with placements including eleventh, ninth, sixth, and fifth. Born into the prestigious Uchiha clan, Itachi was universally recognized as a genius who outshone his peers, even by the clan’s high standards for combat prowess. His early life was marked by the trauma of the Third Great Shinobi World War, which he witnessed at age four, transforming him into a pacifist. His academic and ninja career was rapid; he graduated from the Ninja Academy at seven, mastered the Sharingan at eight, passed the Chunin Exams at ten, and became an ANBU Captain at thirteen. Despite his father’s neglect of Sasuke in favor of Itachi, Itachi maintained a deep affection for his younger brother, even sacrificing a mission to attend Sasuke’s academy enrollment. Madara Uchiha noted that Itachi had a lover whom he killed during the massacre of his clan. Itachi’s personality is defined by extreme emotional control and an emotionless demeanor, rarely showing surprise even when facing superior opponents. He lacks arrogance, often complimenting adversaries, and relies on high intelligence and sharp intuition to remain uncaught off guard. As a pacifist, he avoids combat whenever possible, preferring to end fights quickly. While he appears loyal to the Akatsuki’s goals and maintains a respectful, cooperative relationship with Kisame, this courtesy is not reciprocated by other members. Physically, Itachi is tall with dark grey eyes and black hair styled in a ponytail, features similar to Sasuke but with duller hair and darker skin. His most distinct trait is the prominent creases under his eyes. In Konoha, he wore casual black clothing with the Uchiha crest, while as an ANBU captain, he wore the standard uniform without a mask. As an Akatsuki member, he wears the organization’s cloak over his clothes and a Konoha headband defaced with a scratch to symbolize his severed ties to the village. Itachi is considered one of the strongest ninjas, having defeated powerful figures such as Deidara, Sasuke, Kakashi Hatake, Kurenai Yuhi, and Orochimaru twice. His abilities are centered around his eyes. He is a true successor of the Sharingan, capable of activating it permanently with minimal chakra drain. He uses genjutsu effortlessly, even reflecting an opponent’s illusions with Demonic Illusion: Mirror Heaven and Earth Change. His Mangekyo Sharingan grants him access to Tsukuyomi, a potent genjutsu that tortures the mind, and Amaterasu, black flames from his right eye that burn anything in their path. He can also manifest Susanoo, a spectral avatar wielding the sealing Totsuka Sword and Yata’s Mirror, a defensive shield. According to Zetsu, this combination of eye techniques and Susanoo’s legendary weapons makes Itachi invincible.
