Summary
Gates serves as an Amalgam agent and leads the organization's Execution Squads, exhibiting a dual personality that swings between cold calculation and violent rage. He is notorious for executing his own subordinates if they fail an operation or if he perceives a mission sponsored by Amalgam as unsuccessful, demonstrating a complete disregard for human life. His anger often manifests in brutal acts, such as pushing a subordinate off a helicopter, dragging another into a swimming pool, shooting an Amalgam terrorist in the head, and even playing with the corpse of Xia Yu Lan. Despite this brutality, Gates displays sharp intelligence, notably identifying the presence of the Arbalest and the M9s in Balic. During a skirmish in Balic, he began singing Ave Maria while Xia Yu Lan and a group of Amalgam commandos slaughtered every armed Balic soldier. On a lighter note, Gates is protective of his appearance, specifically regarding his baldness, as the front of his head shows no hair.
