Summary

Taiga Kagami, whose name translates to Paratman's Fire God, is a 16-year-old power forward for Seirin High, wearing jersey number 10. Standing at 190 cm with an athletic build, he returns to Japan from America at the start of his first year of high school after living abroad until the second year of middle school. His primary motivation is to surpass The Generation of Miracles and become the number one player in Japan. Along with Kuroko, he is one of only two freshmen permitted to participate in matches, forming the team known as Seirin's Freshmen Duo. While he possesses solid basketball skills and height, his most devastating weapon is his inhuman jumping power, which increases with every leap and allows him to effectively block opponents' attacks. Despite his athletic prowess, Kagami struggles academically, earning low grades in subjects like English despite being a returnee. He lives alone, which has made him surprisingly adept at cooking, and he has a massive appetite, often consuming large quantities of burgers, his favorite food. He harbors a deep fear of dogs due to a past attack, although he eventually overcomes this phobia enough to interact with Seirin's pet dog, Tetsu No. 2. Although he and Kuroko frequently appear to disagree, they maintain a strong partnership on and off the court.
