Montblanc, Norland

Summary

In a North Blue fairy tale, Montblanc "Liar" Norland is remembered as a trickster and a deceiver who fabricated the legend of a gold city on Jaya, sticking to his story even until his execution. He was a well-built man with brown hair, distinguished by a large chestnut on his head, a trait passed down to his descendants, and he typically wore a black coat with an orange scarf. Over time, his image became distorted due to the shame associated with his name, leading to the common perception of him as an ever-smiling fool, often depicted in children’s books with a spork-shaped nose. In reality, Norland was an honest, brave, and kind man who cared for others, possessed a happy-go-lucky nature, and showed strong determination. Although he tended to act without consulting others, such as when cutting down sacred Shandian trees, his intentions were always to do what he believed was best for people. The fictionalized version of Norland portrays a grinning idiot who embarked on long expeditions and returned with unbelievable tales, ultimately paying with his life for the lie about a city of gold.
