Belldandy
Summary
Belldandy is defined by her boundless kindness, patience, and warmth, extending these traits to Keiichi and everyone else without exception. Despite this gentle demeanor, she is far from weak. As a first-class, unlimited goddess, she possesses immense skill and power so overwhelming that she must wear a special earring in her left ear to constantly seal away the full brunt of her magical strength. She has only ever revealed her true power during the Lord of Terror arc, where she reconstructed their home from rubble at the end, noting that the feat consumed only one ten-millionth of her total energy. Her talents are diverse, spanning both magical and mundane realms. Like all full-fledged goddesses, she can change her clothing’s appearance, levitate, and fly, but her abilities extend much further. She can teleport through mirrors, communicate with animals, perceive human emotions as auras, heal minor wounds by accelerating metabolism, and interface with machines. Additionally, she is an excellent cook and possesses the finest singing voice in the heavens. Belldandy cannot get drunk on alcohol but becomes intoxicated by soda. She is a complete lightweight in this regard, as even a single sip can trigger a drunken rampage; however, given her nature, this "rampage" is destructive in a unique, albeit non-violent, way. She is also the top broom racer in heaven, with only Welsper from hell or Hild the Daimakaichou herself capable of rivaling her. Her angel, Holy Bell (known as Bless餠Bell in some English manga versions), corresponds to the wind element. When summoned, Holy Bell augments Belldandy’s magical powers and reflects her master’s physical state. For instance, when Belldandy falls unconscious after contracting a virus in the movie, Holy Bell emerges in a comatose state, covered in crystals that symbolize the infection. Belldandy does not play a major role in maintaining Yggdrasil. Instead, she works at the Goddess Relief Agency, which grants wishes and forms contracts with humans, a function similar to Peorth’s work at the Earth Assistance Agency.
