Summary
Akari Koumoto serves as the main teacher for Asahi and his classmates, possessing knowledge of their many secrets while simultaneously struggling to manage her troublesome, devilish ancestor. She is a formidable figure, often acting as the only force capable of reining in Akane when her pranks escalate beyond acceptable limits. Her romantic life is a source of significant comedic failure; despite being single past the age of twenty-five, a concept locally known as being a Christmas Cake, she has endured one hundred marriage interviews without success. When Shirou expresses admiration for her, she mistakenly interprets it as flirting, only to be crushed when he clarifies that she is simply too old for him. Despite these rejections, she remains fixated on the fairy-tale fantasy of being swept away by a literal prince on a white horse. Her past as a Japanese Delinquent is a secret she guards closely, though rumors of her legendary exploits still circulate. Currently, she exhibits traits of a hard-drinking party girl with an immoderate appetite for beer, a habit that directly leads to a major incident where she allows a drunk Akane to drive her newly purchased Cool Car, resulting in its total destruction. Akari’s reaction to this loss is one of feigned innocence, asking why anyone would apologize for ruining her vehicle. She also suffers from an Informed Deformity, lacking sex appeal to the point where it negatively influences Shiho’s demeanor. This is attributed not just to her appearance, but to an abstract aura created by her trademark jersey and boorish manners. Although she attempts to maintain the role of an Only Sane Man and feels sympathy for Asahi due to shared experiences, she is Not So Above It All. While she generally averts the Sensei-chan trope by remaining relatively formal with her students, her shock at their behavior is evident when Akane welcomes her to the world of idiots. Like Akane, she frequently breaks into a comically creepy Slasher Smile when trouble is stirred, showcasing her ability to switch instantly from sophisticated politeness to calling someone a stupid old hag.
