Lan, Sizhui
Summary
Lan Sizhui, a sixteen-year-old disciple born on January 12, is a member of the Gusu Lan Sect. As a junior disciple, he is known for his politeness and organizational skills, often serving as the leader of the juniors during investigations, such as the mission in Mo Village. He treats everyone with respect and kindness, regardless of their status, even showing courtesy to Wei Wuxian while he was disguised as the lunatic Mo Xuanyu. Sizhui possesses a compassionate nature, feeling guilt over the deaths caused by the Demonic Left Arm in Mo Village and the injuries sustained at Cloud Recesses. He is observant and intuitive, correctly noting to Lan Wangji that Mo Xuanyu does not appear to be insane and suggesting that the arm was targeting their Clan, a theory Wei Wuxian later confirms is accurate. Sizhui demonstrates a nuanced moral perspective, believing that Wei Wuxian may not be as evil as society claims before his identity is known. Despite his maturity, he occasionally loses his temper or joins in fights, such as when he and other juniors were captive in the Demon-Slaughtering Cave, and he is not above telling lies to save face, like his story about Wei Wuxian’s sleeping habits to Young Master Qin. Additionally, he is hesitant to admit fear due to his anxiety that Lan Wangji would disapprove of him.
