Summary
Nana lost her mother at an unknown time and was subsequently raised solely by her father. Although she attended Karl van Bate's lessons, she appeared significantly less attentive than her fellow students, a fact noted in Chapter 10 of the novel. Following Anna's supposed execution, Nana experienced a recent awakening and tearfully confessed to Karl van Bate, asking if she too would face the gallows. Upon observing Roland spare Anna, Karl introduced Nana to him. She explained that she had awakened one week prior while attempting to aid a bird with a broken leg. To verify her abilities, an on-site test was conducted on a chicken, during which the bird was repeatedly injured and healed; the outcome left Nana dissatisfied. Following this demonstration, she was sent away, as detailed in Chapter 14 of the novel.
