Summary
Mayumi Osaka is the designated name for Naru’s mother in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, as she remained unnamed in other adaptations. Across all versions of the series, she runs a jewelry shop and serves as the vessel for a Youma that becomes Sailor Moon’s first adversary. In the manga and live-action series, her presence is limited to the first Act, whereas the anime grants her additional screen time, including appearances in episodes 23 and 47. In the former, she presents Naru with a rare, silvery-shining crystal that Naru mistakenly identifies as the Silver Crystal and steals to give to Nephrite, disguised as Masato Sanjouin. She also appears when Naru is attacked by the Cardian Vampire. In the video game Sailor Moon: Another Story, Mayumi and Naru are attacked by Cenicienta at the start but are rescued by Sailor Moon. Afterward, she expresses her gratitude and works as a clerk at Osa-P, selling various items for the remainder of the game.
