Yggdrasill, Mithos
Summary
Mithos Yggdrasill serves as both the primary antagonist and a central figure in the game's narrative. Initially referenced as Mithos the Hero, a legendary figure from four millennia prior, he does not physically appear until roughly the final third of the story. Even then, his true identity remains hidden until the climax. He is characterized by his delusion of being a savior, his youthful demeanor, and his ability to infiltrate the player's group. Although driven by ideals of peace, the death of his sister twisted his perspective, leading him to misinterpret her wish for a discrimination-free world as a mandate to eliminate all half-human, half-elf beings. Obsessed with resurrecting her, he seeks to create an Age of Lifeless Beings by homogenizing everyone using Exspheres. Despite his genuine belief that he is saving the world, his actions alienate everyone, including his former companions Kratos and Yuan, who ultimately turn against him.
