Okudaira, Sakiko
Summary
Sakiko Okudaira is the mother of Akira and Shinobu. She shares a long-standing friendship with Fumi’s mother and the Manjoume family, a bond that is rekindled when they move back, leaving her quite excited to have her friend in her life again. Sakiko maintains a close relationship with both of her children, frequently engaging in jokes and regular conversations with them. Despite this warmth, she can be stern and blunt, capable of silencing any fights between Akira and Shinobu with a single glare. She often instructs Shinobu to get a life and leave Akira alone. According to Keiko, a very disapproving relative in Yokohama, Sakiko was considered the family’s outlaw, a dynamic that leads her to make Akira visit Keiko.
