Summary
Naoki Tatsuta provides the voice for Tonjit, a member of the nomadic tribe residing on Longring Longland. He had been stuck atop a pair of extremely tall stilts for a decade, which isolated him from his community. Once the Straw Hat Pirates rescued him, he expressed sorrow over being unable to reach his people due to high tides, though he was eventually reunited with his beloved horse, Shelly. When Foxy kidnapped Shelly, it triggered the Davy Back Fight. Following Luffy’s victory over Foxy, Admiral Aokiji arrived and used his Devil Fruit abilities to freeze the surrounding water for a week, enabling Tonjit to ride Shelly across the surface and join his clan. In the anime adaptation, Aokiji’s role is replaced by Tonjit’s grandson, who emerges from the ground on a mule to provide him with transportation. Tonjit’s attire, nomadic way of life, horse, and yurt dwelling are inspired by the cultures of Central Asian nomads, particularly those from Mongolia.
