Summary
Atri, also known as Atori, makes an appearance during Zen’s past, emerging just as Mitsuhide is newly assigned by Izana to serve as Zen’s bodyguard. He is a young boy roughly the same age as Zen, skilled with a bow, and employed to patrol the outer regions of the castle. The two quickly form a bond, sneaking away to play and explore the surrounding forest together. At the age of thirteen, Zen comes to the realization that he is surrounded by individuals who only relate to him due to his status as a prince, leaving him unable to find genuine friends within the castle walls. Because Atri does not belong to upper-class society, Zen views him as a true friend, free from the burdens of social standing or political connections.
