Summary
As the sergeant of Company B, which was tasked with protecting Lady Oscar within the National Guard, Alain initially welcomed her and even formed a friendship with André, secretly bringing him into the ranks. However, his attitude shifted drastically once he discovered her true identity, leading him to violently reject her authority. Oscar was forced to engage him in combat to regain the respect of Alain and his unit, who refused to follow orders from a noblewoman. Following his defeat, Alain pleaded with Oscar to spare the life of a comrade facing execution, a request she granted. This act led Alain to forgive her and develop an intense devotion, eventually falling in love with her in the manga adaptation, although he remained aware that she loved André.
