Recycle-shop Proprietress
Summary
The proprietor of a recycling shop made her debut in Episode 21 when Sakata Gintoki of the Yorozuya visited to purchase an electric fan. A misunderstanding arose due to the homophonic nature of Japanese, as Gintoki sought a senpuuki (electric fan) while the shopkeeper assumed he was looking for a senpuuki (counterfeit-gold machine). This linguistic confusion led her to mistake Gintoki for a member of an evil organization connected to her father’s device. Following a series of events, Gintoki assisted her in destroying the machine to prevent it from falling into enemy hands. As a gesture of gratitude, she offered him an air conditioner, though he insisted on buying the electric fan instead. Later, during the Benizakura Chapter, she served as an information source for Gintoki while he investigated a missing sword. In a subsequent transaction, Gintoki traded his broken VCR for a cursed Blu-ray player containing a Blu-wraith within the disc. He eventually exchanged the Blu-wraith’s Kotatsu for a Cursed Kotatsu.
