Niche

Summary

Niche serves as Lag’s personal Dingo, accompanying him as his bodyguard against Gaichuu threats. She remains by his side, often sporting a creature named "Steak" on her head like a pet. In combat, she utilizes her hair, referred to as "The Golden Sword," which she manipulates into powerful, blade-like tentacles capable of lifting objects several times her own weight. Her physiology includes bear-like forearms equipped with claws, which she typically conceals inside oven mitt-like gloves. Niche exhibits distinct animalistic traits, such as licking wounds and sniffing the air to detect danger. Although she dislikes wearing pants, she complies with Lag’s request, noting that he is the first male to impose such a rule on her. Based on her youthful appearance, Lag assumes she is seven years old. Lag discovered Niche at a train station while en route to his Bee Interview. She was labeled as a "letter" with an incomplete address, scheduled to be "abandoned" in two days. Despite his tight deadline for the job interview, Lag offered to escort her to her new home, which the label identified as "Rabusamu Wandaun," a place he mistook for an orphanage. During their journey, Lag learned that Niche possessed multiple names and decided to call her Niche, named after the niche in the station where he found her. Upon delivering Niche, Lag learned she was destined to perform in a sideshow act as "The Child of Makka." Makka is a mysterious entity both worshipped and feared in the Northern territories of AmberGround. Lag quickly returned to Rabusamu Wandaun, claiming the delivery receipt was unsigned. There, he found that Niche had already destroyed the sideshow tent with her "Golden Sword" and fled toward Gaichuu territory. Lag pursued her and saved her from a Gaichuu attack. She chose to stay with him after he explained that her original address was now unknown due to the destruction. She then declared that she would henceforth be Lag’s "Dingo."
