Higashikata, Jousuke

Summary

Standing at 180 cm with type B blood, Jousuke Higashikata is a Japanese national and the central protagonist of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 4. His narrative commences as he arrives as a freshman in the quiet town of Morioh, where he is tracked down by Jotaro. Jousuke is revealed to be the illegitimate son of Jotaro’s grandfather, Joseph Joestar, linking him to the wider Joestar family lineage. Initially entering the story as a popular, caring, and somewhat naive teenager, Jousuke possesses a strong sense of justice inspired by his maternal grandfather, a police officer. When Jotaro confronts him about the presence of evil Stand users in Morioh, Jousuke initially declines to intervene, believing the matter is not his concern. However, his stance shifts dramatically after a criminal Stand user murders his grandfather. Drawing a parallel to Peter Parker, Jousuke vows to deliver justice to malevolent Stand users in his grandfather’s stead. Jousuke generally maintains a polite demeanor, addressing others with respectful titles like "Mister" and "Miss," and is known as a dependable and friendly individual willing to protect those in need. He also displays a crafty, sneaky streak regarding money. However, he has a short temper that is easily triggered, particularly if someone mocks his distinctive hairstyle. Such insults provoke an explosively violent reaction. Having been raised by his single mother without ever knowing his father, Jousuke is driven by a desire to protect the community he lives in. His Stand, Crazy Diamond, is a melee-type ability with a short range of two meters. Its primary power is restoration, allowing it to repair damage by returning objects to a previous state, which extends to healing injuries, though it cannot heal Jousuke himself. The ability has specific limitations: it cannot revive the dead or cure illnesses, as the sick are not considered "damaged." However, it can break items down to their raw materials, such as turning a table back into timber. This power enables complex feats, such as trapping enemies by restoring broken crates around them or tracking targets by restoring torn clothing to its original owner. Notably, when Jousuke becomes angry, the restoration ability often malfunctions, resulting in objects being improperly reassembled. The Stand’s name is a tribute to Pink Floyd’s song, "Shine On You Crazy Diamond."
