Summary
Hojo is a fellow student at Kagome’s school who harbors a massive crush on her. He is convinced she is constantly ill and goes out of his way to bring her gifts to help her recover. After Inuyasha forced Kagome back to her own time, they went on an actual date. However, worried about Inuyasha’s wounds, Kagome fled the restaurant mid-meal to try and return to the past. Although she tries to convince herself that she loves Hojo, she consistently chooses Inuyasha over him whenever given the option. On a related note, Hojo’s ancestor, Hojo Akitoki, appears in the past and is also in love with Kagome. He first appears in the second movie, Castle Beyond the Looking Glass, and later in Episode 137: The Ancestor's Name Is Kagome. Akitoki resembles the modern-day Hojo but has a different hairstyle and lighter brown hair and eyes. On March 14, 2006, Inuyasha mentioned a sword of Kaijimbo before Tokijin was made, which brought bad luck to the Hojo family. The character possessed only half of the sword because the Naginaga was cut by the handle, creating two separate pieces. Hojo Akitoki holds the Kene blade.
