Summary
Katazu is a swordsman who assumed the identity of his twin brother, Kageki, following the accidental death of Shikazo. The incident occurred after Kageki, who had lent money to Shikazo, demanded repayment following the birth of his child. When Shikazo refused, a struggle ensued, causing him to strike his head against a rock and die. To protect his brother and family, who went into hiding, Katazu stepped in as Kageki. He deliberately drew the attention of Shikazo’s pursuers while his actual family remained concealed. Tsukado, acting on a vendetta ordered by his clan, attempted to avenge Shikazo but failed to defeat Katazu in thirty-four consecutive encounters. Later, Kanabun brought Katazu before Tsukado to profit from their conflict. With assistance from Naruto, Tsukado gained the upper hand, but Naruto intervened when he realized Katazu could not have intentionally killed Shikazo. Upon learning the truth, Tsukado spared Katazu. When Kanabun and his gang attempted to force the swordsmen into another fight, the warriors and Team 7 drove them out of town.
