Summary
Excalibur is a legendary sword wielded by heroes and kings, possessing unmatched power that allows any user to access abilities like light speed, teleportation, and enough strength to defeat three of Shibusen’s strongest opponents simultaneously. Despite this immense capability, the weapon is infamous for its unbearable personality, boasting an ego even larger than Black Star’s. The title of hero is granted not merely by wielding the blade, but by enduring its demanding habits, such as enforcing a regimen that includes a list of one thousand tasks like daily five-hour reading sessions. Kid and Black Star first encountered the sword after discovering a book about it, only to find the text was authored by Excalibur himself. They quickly abandoned the weapon due to its personality, though another Shibusen student initially succeeded in managing the tasks. However, this student also eventually returned the sword because they could not tolerate its annoying sneeze. In addition to its standard form, Excalibur can assume a second appearance resembling an elegant, cartoonish gentleman with an outrageous mustache and no pants. While its role in the narrative is largely comedic, it holds a key plot function by revealing the history of Eibon and the Shinigami to Kid, the Thompsons, Buttataki, and Blair.
