Summary
Shishiwakamaru, a member of the Fractured Fairy Tales participating in the Dark Tournament, takes his name from Ushiwakamura, a legendary general featured in Noh theater. His signature artifact, the Cape of No Return, draws inspiration from the Hagoromo, another iconic element of Noh plays. Initially presented as one of the most sadistic and malevolent figures in YuYu Hakusho, Shishiwakamaru revels in combat and killing. He despises justice, famously stating that violence is his sustenance and wickedness his ambrosia, while holding no regard for hypocritical pacifists. Despite this dark persona, he occasionally acts in a protagonist-like manner, driven by self-interest much like Hiei. During the Dark Tournament, he gains a large following of female fans who affectionately call him "Waka," claiming he fought to please them. He is among the few demons from the Dark Tournament to return later in the series. Shishiwakamaru possesses the Cape of No Return, which transports anything it touches to random locations, including other dimensions. His primary weapon is the Banshee Shriek, a blade capable of stealing souls to be released as attacks or defenses. He first confronts Kuwabara using the Cape of No Return before battling Genkai. He is ultimately defeated when Genkai uses her Reihado-ken to drain some of his power and finishes him with a Spirit Reflection Blast (Rei Kou Kyou Han Shyo). Following this defeat, he trains under Genkai, advancing from an upper C-class to an upper A-class demon to compete in the Makai Tournament and achieve fame. Although he passes the preliminaries, his run ends shortly thereafter. In his tiny form, he is typically seen sitting on Suzuki's shoulder.
