Summary
Iou is a ninja tool inventor residing in Konohagakure, working alongside his assistant Shoseki. His creations are often portrayed as either unwieldy or lacking practical utility, leading to random explosions that he dismisses as "challenges." Due to these incidents, he is believed to have been moved to the village outskirts. Team Guy, with Rock Lee replaced by Naruto Uzumaki, visited the Konoha Research Lab to acquire new equipment for the village. There, they discovered Iou and Shoseki descending into the lab to develop a new weapon. The pair was interrupted by Gamuru and Kusune, two ninja who demanded weapons they had purchased from Shoseki. Iou provided Tenten with his latest creation, Jidanda, which she used to defeat the intruders. Afterward, Iou reclaimed the weapon, citing the need for further improvements. Years later, following the destruction of the village, Tenten and Neji Hyūga returned to the research lab to retrieve additional tools.
