Summary
Zapan makes his debut during Daisuke Ido and Alita’s visit to Bar Kansas in her new Berserker Body. Among the many hunter-warriors present, he is the only one identified by name, revealing his past as a patient of Ido. When Ido suggests the group unite to hunt the infamous Makaku, Zapan refuses, asserting that hunter-warriors operate as lone wolves and that the criminal is not his concern. He argues that professionalism requires careful selection of prey and risk minimization. Alita challenges this stance, suggesting his logic is merely a cover for cowardice, which sparks a brawl as she refuses to yield. In the ensuing fight, Alita grabs Zapan from behind, controls his limbs, and uses his body to slice through the other hunter-warriors before tossing him and the rest of the fighters out of the establishment. He subsequently escapes when Makaku arrives at the bar.
