Hattori, Hanzo
Summary
In the manga, Tokugawa Ieyasu serves as the ruthless daimyo of the Tokugawa clan and father to Benitora, also known as Hidetada. He is depicted as a middle-aged man who employed a double—a fat, balding Tokugawa lieutenant—to impersonate Hattori Hanzo. After the Shogun Tournament concludes, he reveals his true identity to Kyo and the others. Later in the narrative, he passes the Hokuraku Shimon to Benitora and assists Kyo in defeating the former Crimson King. In the anime adaptation, Hattori Hanzo is the leader of the Iga ninja within the Tokugawa clan. Following the death of Tokugawa Ieyasu at the hands of Hidetada, Hanzo is ordered to remain in Edo and assume the role of the deceased daimyo.
