Ebisu

Summary

Ebisu is a young, androgynous woman with a sullen demeanor who makes her debut in chapter three wearing a skull-shaped mask. While navigating the Hole, she finds herself unable to summon a portal back to the Magic Users' world because of the active barrier between the realms. Her situation escalates when she encounters Caiman and Nikaido, who approach her aggressively. Caiman severs her fingers to render her incapable of using magic and bites down on her head after removing her mask. Just as he prepares to withdraw and ask his signature question, a frantic Fujita emerges from a door behind her and forcibly pulls Ebisu to safety, saving her from his jaws. This violent extraction causes significant trauma to her face and head, though both manage to escape the immediate danger. Following the incident, Ebisu suffers from haunting nightmares and exhibits signs of mental instability. At En’s residence, she is kept restrained until Noi can fully heal her injuries and restore her fingers and facial structure. The head trauma appears to have caused temporary brain damage, which manifests in her increasingly eccentric behavior. She is frequently depicted alongside Fujita in the manga, suggesting they have formed a partnership. While her smoke abilities are not shown directly, records indicate she is proficient in Reptile transformation. Additionally, panels reveal she once attacked an individual with excess power after being administered Black Powder by someone who seemed to have a prior connection with her. Throughout the series, Ebisu often serves as the target of slapstick humor, frequently sustaining comedic injuries.
