Ka-Fai, Yuan
Summary
Yuan is a half-elf who serves as a double agent, acting as the leader of the Renegades, a faction opposing Cruxis, while simultaneously holding the position of one of the Four Seraphim of Cruxis. He maintains a facade of loyalty to Mithos to gather intelligence on Cruxis’s plans and ultimately thwart them. When occupied with duties for Mithos, Yuan delegates control of the Renegades to his lieutenant, Botta. Four thousand years prior to the start of the story, Yuan traveled with Mithos and their companions into the past to resolve the Kharlan War. During this time, he became engaged to Martel, who was killed before she could see her vision realized. On her deathbed, Martel asked Mithos and Yuan to improve the world and eradicate half-elf discrimination. Although Mithos attempted to honor her wishes, he pursued a path that diverged significantly from Martel’s original intent. Yuan, aware of this distortion, sought to prevent Mithos from carrying out his interpretation of her final request. He eventually aids the Chosen’s group in defeating Mithos, positioning himself as an anti-hero. Characterized as resilient and calculating, Yuan chooses to subvert Mithos covertly to remain close to him, a strategy that distinguishes him from Kratos. His approach is sharply contrasted with that of Lloyd; while both share similar end goals, their methods differ profoundly. Yuan employs cut-throat tactics and is willing to sacrifice or harm others if necessary, whereas Lloyd consistently strives to find solutions that protect his friends and innocents from harm.
