Ferman, Paul

Summary

Paul is a human in his late twenties who strives to become a renowned artist. His life changes when he attends Edgar’s ball and meets Lydia there. While assisting Lydia by removing a Kelpie from her, a moon ring accidentally slips onto his finger and refuses to come off. Although Paul maintains a friendly relationship with Lydia, this dynamic causes discomfort for both Kelpie and Edgar. His artistic inspiration comes from fairies, beings he has always loved but cannot see. This inability to witness them leaves him uncertain of their existence, though he prefers to believe they are real. Paul’s father was killed by the Prince’s organization, prompting Paul to join the Scarlet Moon, a group that opposes the Prince. In his youth, Paul originally aspired to be a poet. However, after meeting Edgar as a child, he was persuaded to switch to painting instead. Paul remains deeply devoted to Edgar for this guidance and encouragement. Edgar later reveals to Lydia in private that he pushed Paul toward painting because his poetry was terrible and would never sustain him financially, whereas even bad art might find a buyer. Despite this dismissive remark, Edgar continues to be a loyal customer of Paul’s work. When Paul discovers that Edgar has inherited the Prince’s memories, he chooses to remain loyal. He views Edgar as another victim who sacrificed himself to protect his friends. Additionally, Paul takes care of Banshee.
