Amidamaru is a samurai who perished during the Muromachi period six centuries ago and currently serves as Yoh's ghost companion. Renowned in the town of Funbari for his prowess, he killed several hundred fellow samurai in battle before his death. Though highly skilled and wise, he is notably taciturn and displays extreme devotion to his master, addressing him as "Lord Yoh" or "Yō-dono." He is the original wielder of the legendary sword Harusame, which translates to "Spring Rain." This blade was crafted by his best friend, Mosuke, who also appears as a spirit in the series. While the original sword is housed in a museum, a replica spirit sword was utilized by Asakura Yoh during the Shaman Fight. His name derives from Amitabha, the central figure of the Pure Land Buddhist sect.
