Chachazero
Seiyuu / Dub
Summary
Chachazero serves as a magical doll who previously functioned as Evangeline’s Ministrum Magi before Nagi placed the Dark Evangel under a curse. Visually, she resembles a miniature, childlike version of Chachamaru. While Chachamaru, Evangeline’s current Ministra Magi, operates on minimal magical energy retained by Evangeline and a spring mechanism, Chachazero requires a substantial amount of magic, primarily supplied by Evangeline. Due to the curse, Chachazero is capable of independent speech but cannot move unless there is a high concentration of magic in the vicinity, which explains why Evangeline relies on Chachamaru. Personality-wise, Chachazero contrasts sharply with the polite, kind, and well-mannered Chachamaru. She is rude, abrupt, prone to whining, and occasionally bloodthirsty. She frequently complains about her inability to move and laments that her master has grown too soft and lost her evil edge, as Chachazero herself enjoys killing and witnessing death. In combat, she wields two daggers, meat cleavers, and occasionally a giant sword larger than her own body. She is often seen perched on Chachamaru’s head or carried like a marionette by Evangeline. However, in areas with high ambient magical energy, such as Evangeline’s resort or during the Mahora Festival, she can move independently like a small child. She also moved freely in Kyoto when Evangeline’s full powers were unsealed. In the anime, Chachazero assumes a minor, childlike role compared to the manga’s more vindictive portrayal. She appears in memories and voices Evangeline’s plea to Nagi to "please stay... I know we'll be happy together," as well as Evangeline’s recurring dream of her past defeat at Nagi’s hands. She is also depicted chasing butterflies. In Negima!?, Evangeline commands a small army of Chachazeroes during her battle against Nagi. In a subsequent episode, one Chachazero distracts a Dark Seed Fairy to allow the class to save Negi the Chupacabra. In the manga, she shares a strange friendship with Chamo. They are frequently seen observing situations together, making comments, or eating while watching, particularly when events involve Negi and Evangeline, such as sparring sessions or conversations.
